The Past School Year...

The past school year I have discovered many things in me that I thought I can never be.

The past school year I learned that I can sing. I learned that I have the talent to sing. How? I just auditioned for the College Choir. That day when the auditions was held I was not feeling anwell to take a class in Filipino 4 because I was always getting sleepy in this class. My classmates said there is an audition for the College Choir. I said to myself why not join the audition this is a way to get rid of the sleepy class in Filipino 4. I joined the audition having no preparations. Actually before I sang, I just wrote the lyrics of the song that I will sing because I was nervous that I may forget the lyrics while singing. The song that I sang was the Bukas Palad hit, God of Silence in a tenor style. And I succeed, going to two more auditions. And at last I was an official member already. Although this was already the last year in the choir for our current choir master, Dr. Mary Lou Aurelio, Ed.D., because she will retire already, at least I get a chance to work with her. This year I got the chance to perform in front of many people at the Teatro Ilocandia (swerte na ako hindi lahat may chance). And our choir was awarded as the most active interest club in the whole university.

The past school year I discovered that I can be also at the top if I will strive in my studies. I realized that it was only my fear in the past that made me feel that I was always inferior to others. I realized that somehow I can be the superior one in school. At first, I thought I was just a regular student because my classmates, or let us just say competitors (because I know that they see me as a competitor, an enemy for them), were valedictorians, salutatorians, and all the honors but at the end I had realized that I was better than them. I am not being a hypocrite. But I can say I excelled to almost every subject except Math.

The past school year I discovered that I can be a leader also. I thought I will be always a follower but this year it showed that I was not to be a follower forever I can also be a leader. And it shows that it is right to say that if you want to be a good leader you should be a good follower. And I governed an organization, and in the end I have led this organization into what it is now. The leader in me is awaken.

The past school year many unexpected things happened to me. If before I was a nobody at school today I have become somehow someone to reckon with. I made a mark already in school and I realized that if I will be assertive I can succeed also in my school career.

But still I should not forget the fact that I should always see to it that I my feet is always set on the ground. I have nothing. To God be the Glory! And if I gain any praise let it go to Calvary!
