As I was having my course in Creative Writing just this summer, we were tasked to do some poems as part of our workshops in making a good one. And one of the poems that I have made is really dedicated to Carmel.
I do not know why but I just want to dedicate something to Carmel for in this just small period of time I find a place where I can say my second home also. I want to thank Carmel of the things that it gives to me physically and spiritually. It is Carmel that awakens my prayer life, a deeper sense of prayer. A shift from the vocal conscious prayers to a merely mental unconscious prayers.
As I go to Carmel everyday, I have wrote this poem as an expression also of what I experience in Carmel which I call the Garden of Souls. I call this as a masterpiece because it is not usuall for me to make poems for I am not poetic really. Here is it, a little product of my creative mind, I guess.
The Garden of Souls
The stillness overcomes sound
In the garden where souls bound
Nourished by the silence found
Harmony and peace around
Every creatures finds delight
The weary soul in this site
The darkness of the soul's night
Vanished by the garden's light
Melodies of music I heard
From the group of cloistered birds
Cloistered for the garden's world
Praying deeply for the world
From this tiresome world of mine
Restless for the One Divine
I want to cross from this line
To be in the garden Divine.
I was getting some thoughts in my mind of why have I written such words. A message again maybe but I know that the soul of this writer of mine hides something that I should again investigate.
