TALDIAP 1: From the Church of San Agustin to San Agustin Church

Ha? Ano bang ibig sabihin ko sa pamagat na to? From the Church of San Agustin to San Agustin Church? Binaliktad ko lang ata. But I am not joking about this. I give this as its title because it is symbolic. This is our journey to the Ilocos Norte Day at the Clamshell, Intramuros.

Ano bang symbol ang pinagsasabi-sabi ko? Ganito yun. The Church of San Agustin is more popularly known as the Paoay Church. While San Agustin Church is the one which is seen at Intramuros Manila. Both are World Heritage Sites. I came from Ilocos Norte the home of the Paoay Church and I came to Intramuros the home of the San Agustin Church.

This weekend, we have just came from the historic walled-city of Intramuros to perform for the Ilocos Norte Day of the Regional Showcase of the Department of Tourism. Pinalad ako na nakasama ako sa performers ng Ilocos Norte. Ang College kasi ang kinuha ng Provincial Tourism Office para magperform ng isang cultural presentation featuring a glimpse of our culture na dati na naming ipinakita sa school noon.

Honestly, I was not part of the original cast. Pero dahil sa isang hindi inaasahang pangyayari napasama ako sa mga performers. My classmate had an task given by our professor pero kasi kung gagawin niya ito magpapakita siya sa mga directors ng shows eh he is one of the casts pero dahil ayaw niyang sumama kaya hindi siya sumasama sa mga practice. Well, he has his own reasons. While for me, okay lang na hindi ako kasama sa cast kasi iniisip ko talaga ang schedule ko kung napasama ako doon. Pero natatakot talaga yung classmate ko na magpakita sa kanila kaya nakiusap siya na kung maaari ako na lang ang magbigay sa ipinapabigay ng professor namin. Okay lang yun sa akin kasi may sasabihin rin ako sa adviser namin sa choir.

Then nakita na ako ng overall director. Tinanong niya bakit hindi nakikipagparticipate sa practice, sabi ko naman eh wala naman po ako sa official list. Then sabi niya I was part of the cast of the performers sa school kaya naman dapat lang eh kasama ako sa cast. Eh di na rin naman ako makapalag kasi nahihiya na rin ako sa kanya. And so I said I want to join.

Hayun, after three days of continuos practices, from Wednesday until Friday morning. Masaya maging part ng isang performing arts group. Ang bonding namin. Waaaaa! Kakamiss silang lahat. What I mean is that marami na kasi sa kanila ang graduate na and so wala na sila sa mga susunod na performances. Lalo pa't we are already incorporated sa troupe na ito na kumbaga masasabi nang pinagsama-sama na ang mga pinakamagagaling sa school.

Friday night we travelled from Laoag to the City of Manila. Sumakay ako sa coaster rather doon sa shuttle bus. Iilan lang kasi ang boys doon sa bus, kakahiya puro mga girls doon. At nasa coaster talaga ang mga katropa ko pati na ang isa sa mga English professors ko. Well, it is a very enjoyable travel. Story dito story diyan. Tapos siyempre kasi andun si Sir kaya naman nakapagusap kami tungkol sa mga bagay-bagay sa English department. Hehehehehe, pakialamero kasi ako eh.

After 10 hours of travel we reached Manila. Para bang nagbalik ako sa bahay eh hindi naman talaga dito ang lugar ko.
